Basic Life Support is a course offered to healthcare professionals who know to give emergency medical care to victims in any given situation. BLS training gives these professionals basic skills to help victims sustain their vital signs during cardiac arrest, drowning or choking before they are taken to hospital.
The BLS certified professionals are trained to manage the victim's airway, breathing and circulation. In the Instructor-led format, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam in class (must score 84%).
